Machined and stamped brass contact blocks staked onto a formed carrier bar, producing a rigid current path for switchgear and control equipment. Brass is chosen for the combination of conductivity, machinability and resistance to the arcing and mechanical wear a switching contact sees over its life.

The blocks are staked rather than screwed, which removes a fastener that could loosen in service and holds the contact faces coplanar. We check coplanarity across the finished assembly, because a contact sitting proud of its neighbours carries more than its share of the current and overheats.
